EVHS Heritage Signage Program

The “EVHS Heritage Signage Program” is a public awareness and educational resource sponsored by the Society. It serves as an umbrella for two initiatives that evolved over several decades, but have two different objectives.

A. Historic Homes and Businesses
EVHS sponsors an exclusive historic properties Registry program to recognize homes and businesses that hold historic value regarding architecture, events or vintage age of survival. Owners may apply for inclusion to the EVHS registry and qualify for a property sign to post at authorized sites. From these properties and others, EVHS hosts a bi-annual tour of historic homes.

The Historic Awareness Sign Program was developed to help identify and label  Bartow County properties of historic and/or architectural interest that are at least 50 years old. Property owners participate by displaying the historic markers in front of their homes or business.

Signs feature the original owner and date of construction, along with the current owner’s name. Benefiting tourists and local residents alike with the informative and educational information displayed, the Society hopes to promote local historical interest while helping to preserve historic neighborhoods.  (Contact:  770.606.8862 or email – susan@evhsonline.org with questions.)B. Historic Places

This initiative is designed to preserve or recognize local sites, properties and personalities that are unique to Bartow County, but fall outside of State and Federal historic signage markers.
