West End Institute

Miss Lucy Carpenter and Mrs. J. W. Harris Sr. were principals at the West End Institute in Cartersville which opened on Monday, August 16, 1886. Petition for charter of the West End Institute was approved on August 19, 1891 with Mr. J. W. Harris Sr. and Florence J. Harris as the petitioners. At the West End Institute, boarding could be found for students with Mrs. J. W. Harris Sr. a few yards from the Academy. Florence Harris was the sister to Asa G.
