SUMMARY:Mary Whyte's 'We the People' Portraits of Veterans in America
DESCRIPTION:WE THE PEOPLE: Portraits of Veterans in America by Mary Whyte\nPlease join EVHS to view history in action in watercolor artist Mary Whyte’s remarkable exhibit at the Booth Western Art Museum.  Ms. Whyte traveled at her own expense to all 50 states to paint a large-scale watercolor of one representative veteran from each state. Starting in 2019 she established the Patriot Art Foundation to honor our veterans and inspire them through the arts.  The selected veterans come from all walks of life exhibiting the full range of human emotion. \nFrom the annals of CBS Sunday Morning\, NPR\, and PBS to walls of The Booth Western Art Museum\, Mary Whyte’s paintings can be examined in person.  Please join EVHS and The Booth to view the remarkable watercolors that flow from the brush of Ms. Whyte.   In these turbulent times\, she has dramatically captured the life blood of our human spirit\, and particularly the heart of our Veterans. \nOn Thursday. August 1\, 2024 at 5:30\, The Booth is free and open to the public.  Bring your family and friends for a personal tour lead by Booth docents to view Mary Whyte’s watercolors\, ‘WE THE PEOPLE: Portraits of Veterans in America.’ \n\nThursday August 1\, 2024 @ 5:30 \nCost: Free and open to the public. \nMeet EVHS at The Booth for the tour and grab supper downtown.

SUMMARY:Mid-Century Macon: 1945-1969
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday August 29\, 2024 at 6:00pm to hear Mr. James E. Barfield discuss his journey into Mid-Century Macon. He and Walter G. Elliott Dunwoody\, Jr.\, FAIA. \nMid-Century Macon: 1945-1969 is a 180-page book that explores 40 of Macon’s most well known mid-century modern homes and other Macon sites throughout Macon that incorporate mid-century style. As you enjoy Mr. Barfield’s Macon trip into the past\, dream with us about the mid-century jewels that are in our own community as the National Trust for Historic Preservation is beginning to recognize their importance. \nThursday August 29\, 2024 at the Cartersville Public Library. Reception at 6:00pm. Lecture at 6:30pm. \nCost: FREE \n
